Killearn Village Hall management committee has firmly denied an accusation this week that local people can no longer afford to rent the hall.
The hall is run and managed by not-for-profit Killearn Community Futures Company (KCFC) after ownership was transferred to them from Stirling Council at the end of 2012.

Magician Ryan Davidson will perform an exclusive show in Killearn this weekend to raise cash for ex-Celtic player John Hartson’s cancer charity.
The 28-year-old has put together the one-off event called ‘An Evening of Magic and Mind Reading’ especially for the John Hartson Foundation.
It will be held on Saturday, November 8 – and it promises to be an entertaining evening with a few surprises.

The Three Sisters Bake food company is to open its latest cafe outlet today and create around 15 new jobs.
The company, run by Gillian, Nichola and Linsey Reith, has agreed a five-year lease on a 50-seat venue at Killearn Village Hall in Stirlingshire and invested around £25,000 in fitting the premises out.

Mrs Brown’s Boys’ actor Gary Hollywood and rock’n’roll bagpipers the Red Hot Chilli Pipers star at a fundraiser in Killearn for ex-Celtic player John Hartson’s charity next month.
Gary – who has just finished filming the movie version of the hit comedy – is hosting the annual Big Shindig, held in memory of Balfron woman Lisa Morrison who lost her battle to cervical cancer in February 2012.

The Killearn Cottagers’ Horticultural Society Annual Show will be held on Saturday, August 31 in the spectacular newly extended and renovated village hall and in the church hall.
They are expecting a good turn out both from growers and viewers and hoping for a plentiful crop of horticultural exhibits as well as the work of artists, photographers, crafts people and bakers.

VOLUNTEERS who run Killearn Village Hall have pulled off a coup by persuading one of Scotland’s top chefs to take over the catering there.
Simon Whitley has just left his job as executive chef at the Hilton Worldwide in Glasgow to run the coffee shop and a ‘pop-up’ restaurant at the recently-refurbished hall.

Ownership of the dilapidated old town hall was transferred from Stirling Council to Killearn Community Futures Company (KCFC) at the end of 2012 and building work started in May the same year after they secured a £1.5 million grant plus £500,000 in donations and other grants.

After years in the planning the wraps come off the new state of the art Killearn Village Hall this weekend.
A development group was formed way back in 2008 to look at the possibilities of a revamp with considerable resaerch undertaken over a two year period including visits to other halls and youth clubs across Scotland and meetings and presentations within the village itself.
