Historic rural hotel looks set to be completely demolished

A landmark former hotel in Killearn looks set to be completely demolished despite hopes at least part of the 18th century building could be saved.

The Killearn Hotel – also known as the Black Bull – sits at 2 The Square in the village Conservation Area.

Future of Killearn Hotel is in question

Almost 100 people have joined a facebook group called “Save the Black Bull” in a bid to save the Killearn Hotel building (formerly The Black Bull Hotel).

Plans have been lodged by a developer with Stirling Council to build residential apartments on the site.

If you are interested at all in the future of the Killearn Hotel building, please come along to a public meeting tomorrow evening at 7.30pm in the Village Hall Garden Room. The meeting has been arranged at short notice following almost one hundred members of the community joining a Facebook Group “Save the Black Bull” which was created less than a week ago.

A full planning application to develop residential apartments on the site has been lodged with Stirling Council by a developer. Tomorrow’s meeting may be the last chance for members of the community to have a say in the future of the building. Whatever your views, they are most welcome.
