Best places to live in Scotland revealed in new guide

A new guide has named 12 locations in Scotland in its list of the best places to live in Britain.

Killearn was named in The Sunday Times Best Place to Live list.

Son pays tribute to father who died in cycling accident

The son of a cyclist who died during an endurance race in Perthshire said his father had never been involved in a crash before.

John Yates, of Lampson Road, Killearn, Stirlingshire, died after falling from his bike while trying to ride 100 miles in eight hours with the Glasgow Nightingale cycling club.

A cyclist has died after sustaining head injuries while taking part in a biking event in Perthshire.

John Yates, of Lampson Road, Killearn, in Stirlingshire, fell from his bike at around 11.50am on Sunday.

Schools close across west and central Scotland

Schools across central and western Scotland are closed on Tuesday and commuters on the road and rails have suffered disruption and delays as winter weather continues to bite.

Schools in Argyll and Bute, Clackmannanshire, Dumfries and Galloway, East Dunbartonshire, Falkirk, Glasgow, North Lanarkshire, South Lanarkshire, Stirling and West Dunbartonshire have been closed due to snow and ice.
