Skies over Stirling lit up as residents report sightings of “massive meteor”

The skies above Stirling were lit up this week by a meteor passing overhead.

The eye-catching phenomenon was visible across Scotland on Wednesday evening.

Sightings were reported in Stirling, Dunblane, Kippen, Killearn and Strathblane.

Stirling to London trains to be reinstated

London North Eastern Railway has announced that the direct Stirling to London train is to be reinstated from 9 December, following a temporary suspension over the summer.

Over the summer, the train operator took the decision to withdraw the train service to improve its’ reliability after damage from the infamous ‘beast from the east’ storm last winter.

New Virgin train service to connect Stirling and London

A new direct train service is to be launched linking Stirling with London.

Virgin Trains has started selling tickets for the new return service, which commences from 14 December.

The service includes an early train leaving Stirling at 05:26, arriving at London King’s Cross at 10:52.

Free Park and Ride in Stirling

In response to the weather conditions and disruption over the last two weeks, Stirling Council, will be providing Free Park and Ride.

Stirling’s Park and Ride service will be free from Saturday 11th until Christmas Eve. Forthside car park will also be free during this period and visitors can also park here and hop-on the Park and Ride bus.
