Elderly urged to be on alert to guard against bogus callers

Three elderly people have been the victims of theft in rural Stirlingshire within the last month.

Community constable Campbell Dunn said the cases happened at homes in Blanefield and Killearn.

Enterprise event comes to Killearn

Stirling Enterprise (STEP) will be offering its services to the West Stirlingshire community at a special event at the Black Bull Hotel in Killearn.

The information day, which takes place on Wednesday from 10am until 4pm, is free to attend and will offer advice on everything from learning new skills to starting or expanding your business.

Killearn fire-starter sentence delayed

A FIRE-STARTER who torched three classic cars at a garage in Killearn had his sentence further deferred earlier this week.

Nathan Mowat (25), pictured, caused thousands of pounds worth of damage when he started the blaze in the building in the grounds of the Old Killearn Hospital, by the A81, back in January 2009.
