Concerns are raised over hall charges

Killearn Village Hall management committee has firmly denied an accusation this week that local people can no longer afford to rent the hall.

The hall is run and managed by not-for-profit Killearn Community Futures Company (KCFC) after ownership was transferred to them from Stirling Council at the end of 2012.

Killearn car crash teen jailed over dangerous driving

A teenager, who flipped his car and injured his three passengers just months after passing his driving test, has been jailed for nine months.

Luke Clark admitted driving dangerously when he overturned his Vauxhall Corsa on the A809 road at Killearn in April.

Event for cancer charity will be truly magical

Magician Ryan Davidson will perform an exclusive show in Killearn this weekend to raise cash for ex-Celtic player John Hartson’s cancer charity.

The 28-year-old has put together the one-off event called ‘An Evening of Magic and Mind Reading’ especially for the John Hartson Foundation.

It will be held on Saturday, November 8 – and it promises to be an entertaining evening with a few surprises.

The Three Sisters opens new cafe

The Three Sisters Bake food company is to open its latest cafe outlet today and create around 15 new jobs.

The company, run by Gillian, Nichola and Linsey Reith, has agreed a five-year lease on a 50-seat venue at Killearn Village Hall in Stirlingshire and invested around £25,000 in fitting the premises out.

New crime prevention scheme to be rolled out across Scotland

A crime prevention scheme in which property is invisibly marked by householders is being rolled out across Scotland.

Around 4500 homes will be given a security pack containing the special liquid.

Tree Identification Walk – Killearn Glen

tree_id_walkKillearn Glen is a delightful spot on the edge of the village that has been in existence as a wood for many years, with a varied mix of native & non-native trees for us to identify. Our guide for the afternoon is Paul of Green Aspirations Scotland, and he will talk us through the woods’ history (it dates back to the earliest maps), the relationship between natural and designed landscape, whilst highlighting uses of the different tree species. There is no charge, but please use the booking form (here) to confirm your place.
