Most people don’t believe me that I was born in England due to my strong Scottish accent. My star sign is Libra. I am 5’9” tall, 30″ waist, with blonde hair, which is sometimes short, sometimes long. Balfron High School closed all day (08/12/2011)

Kippen and Killearn water work upgrades

Kippen and Killearn are to benefit from a £1.7m upgrade of their waste water treatment works.

Scottish Water announced the investment they say will help better protect the environment in the Strath of the River Forth and the Blane Water respectively.

Elderly urged to be on alert to guard against bogus callers

Three elderly people have been the victims of theft in rural Stirlingshire within the last month.

Community constable Campbell Dunn said the cases happened at homes in Blanefield and Killearn.

Search for Killearn RAF war hero

AN RAF base in Oxfordshire is trying to trace a local family with links to a Second World War hero.

Staff at RAF Benson are trying to trace Karen MacDonald whose father Flt Lt Duncan McCuaig DFC from Killearn was killed over Germany on September 28, 1944.

Enterprise event comes to Killearn

Stirling Enterprise (STEP) will be offering its services to the West Stirlingshire community at a special event at the Black Bull Hotel in Killearn.

The information day, which takes place on Wednesday from 10am until 4pm, is free to attend and will offer advice on everything from learning new skills to starting or expanding your business.

Killearn fire-starter sentence delayed

A FIRE-STARTER who torched three classic cars at a garage in Killearn had his sentence further deferred earlier this week.

Nathan Mowat (25), pictured, caused thousands of pounds worth of damage when he started the blaze in the building in the grounds of the Old Killearn Hospital, by the A81, back in January 2009.

Phone scamsters pose as IT experts

POLICE in rural Stirlingshire have again issued advice to locals worried about telephone fraud.

They have issued a string of alerts in recent weeks, urging locals to be on the look-out for cold call scams involving bank details, computer software and shoddy workmanship.

Thieves steal portable office and toilet in Stirling

Thieves used a large vehicle with a crane to steal a portable toilet and temporary office from a Stirling Council yard.

The items, worth thousands of pounds, were taken from a locked site on the A81 at Dumgoyne.
