OAP accident costs distillery £12,000

A pensioner has been awarded £12,000 in compensation after an accident at the Glengoyne Distillery by Killearn.

Margaret Buttle (82) from Somerset was touring the Trossachs on a coach tour when she and her party paid a visit to the distillery in September 2010

She caught her foot on a piece of wood sticking out from some stairs during the tour and fell, suffering a fracture of her ankle.

IT’S a fair swap. The Killers will bring the sunshine and we’ll give them our whisky.

OK, so the last week has been lovely and hot anyway but just to be sure, drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr has vowed to pocket the Las Vegas sunshine, “divide it into my hand luggage and bring it to Scotland. That’s a fair trade”.

All he wants in return is whisky.

And he’s not even asking for a freebie. Instead he’s planning to go to the Glengoyne Distillery, near Killearn, Stirlingshire, on Monday.

Witnesses being asked to come forward for accident at Glengoyne Distillery

Central Scotland Police are appealing for information about a car and driver that hit a woman outside Glengoyne Distillery, Dumgoyne, near Killearn.

The incident happened on Sunday, January 6 at around 5.55pm on the A81 Blanesmithy to Blanefield Road.

Distillery boosts green credentials

Glengoyne Distillery has joined the green revolution with the opening of a wetlands area to process distillery waste.

The Killearn plant has invested £170,000 in the facility.

Family distiller Ian Macleod increases profit by 41%

One of the largest independent family companies in the UK spirits industry has announced a 41% increase in profits.

Broxburn-based Ian Macleod Distillers said profits after tax for the year to September 2010 reached £3.1m.
