Extra Freeview HD channels coming June 2014

Great news for people that can already receive Freeview HD channels 101-105 and can receive services from the Darvel transmitter will gain access to BBC Four HD, CBeebies HD, BBC News HD and Al Jazeera English HD as well as standard definition Al Jazeera Arabic.

To get the extra channels, viewers with a Freeview HD or YouView device should retune on the 17th June 2014.

BBC to launch five HD channels

The BBC has announced that it will launch five new subscription-free HD channels, tomorrow (Tuesday 10th December 2013).

The new channels: BBC Three HD, BBC Four HD, BBC News HD, CBeebies HD and CBBC HD will be available on Freeview HD, Freesat HD, YouView and Sky HD. Viewers will also be able to catch-up on HD programmes from these channels on BBC iPlayer.

But only BBC Three HD and CBBC HD will be available to viewers in Killearn with Freeview and YouView. To watch BBC Four HD, BBC News HD, and CBeebies HD you will need to have Freesat HD or Sky HD.

CBBC and BBC Three go HD tomorrow

Tomorrow will see the BBC launch both CBBC amd BBC Three in HD on Freeview, Freesat, Sky and YouView.

These two extra HD channels will be broadcast from both the local transmitter at Craighat and the Darvel transmitter. Meaning that anyone in Killearn and local area that can currently watch BBC One Scotland HD, will get these new channels.

CBBC HD will be on channel number 73. BBC Three HD will be on channel number 105 on both Freeview and YouView.

BBC restores five Freeview radio stations in Scotland

The BBC is restoring access to several radio stations on Freeview in Scotland, which for the past 2 1/2 years have gone off-air every afternoon and evening.

In June 2011, the BBC launched BBC Alba on Freeview channel 8 in Scotland. The capacity to broadcast this extra TV channel came at the expense of BBC National Radio on Freeview.

BBC Radio 4, 4extra, 5 Live Sports Extra, BBC Asian Network and BBC Radio Scotland (MW version) are being restored. BBC Radio 1, 2, 3 and BBC Radio nan Gaidhael as well as the World Service will continue to be absent on Freeview in the evenings.

BBC One Scotland to go HD on the 14th

Great news that BBC One Scotland will launch in HD next Monday.

Viewers in Scotland will need to reset any series links currently in place for recordings on BBC One HD when the new national variant goes live on the 14th January.

It will be available on Freeview and YouView (101) and Freesat (108). If you have Freeview TV/HD box or a Freesat HD box.

Killearn is fully digital

That’s Killearn now fully digital after analogue got turned off last night from the local Killearn transmitter.

So great news, if you have TV with build in Freeview HD or a HD set top box. You now will have BBC1 HD, BBC HD, STV HD and CH4 HD all for free.

Digital re-tune reminder (22nd June 2011)

Stage 2 of the digital switchover happens on 22nd June 2011, if you use the Killearn transmitter.

All the remaining analogue channels will switch to digital and the remaining digital channels will become available. This means that:

  • If you haven’t switched to digital, you will lose your TV service.
  • The time of day you switch will depend on which relay transmitter you are watching.

If you have Freeview, BT Vision or Top Up TV you’ll need to re-tune your equipment again.

BBC ALBA Gaelic Digital Service

BBC ALBA the Gaelic Digital Service from the BBC and MG Alba can now be found on Freeview channel 8 (Scotland only).

You may need to re-tune your digital equipment to pick up this additional channel.

That’s analogue just been turned off from the Darvel transmitter.

So great news, if you have TV with build in Freeview HD or a HD set top box. From around 6am you will have BBC1 HD, BBC HD, STV HD and CH4 HD :).
